Welcome

Welcome, friend! I'm so happy you decided to stop by. I hope you have a cup of coffee and an open heart for the Lord.

Whether you are looking for inspiration, interested in deepening your relationship with Christ, or just stopping in to see what God is doing in my life, you'll discover scripture, pictures, song lyrics, and mumblings about faith here. Maybe this is a place that you go when you are bored and are looking for something to do. Maybe this is a place you accidentally found. Maybe this is a safe place for God to ignite questions in your life to help seek after Him. Questions are never a bad thing, although I think they are discouraged at times-especially in the church. We aren’t meant to know everything about anything. If we knew exactly what was going to happen, we’d have no reason for faith or to follow the path God has set up for us. You don’t need to know the whole path, just the next step.

If you're wondering why my blog is called Beautifully Broken, you don't have to wonder anymore! David wrote in Psalm 51 that the sacrifices of God are broken and they are beautiful. God doesn't want followers who are whole-He wants to fill in the cracks in your life and bring peace. I was at a seminar in 2010 and someone had a beautiful, handmade clay vase. It was painted just perfect. There were no smudges, no mistakes. The speaker was talking about this vase the entire time she was up there. At the end, she broke it. The entire crowd gasped and the pieces went flying. But you know what-the pieces were still beautiful. Luckily, (okay, maybe not so luckily...) I was sitting in the front few rows so a piece flew by my foot. I picked it up, put it in my bag, and still have it to remind myself of the broken spirit I need and to not be ashamed of my cracks. I have a willingness to be broken so I can be made whole in Christ.

I hope you can take something away from this and it sparks a flame in your soul for the Lord. The Word of God says we need to encourage each other in Hebrews. In James, it tells us to pray for each other and to confess our sins. Feel free to comment or shoot me an email with prayer requests or anything that's going on in your life; I would love to pray for you.

Thanks for stopping by! You found and looked at my page for a reason that you might not understand yet. Allow God to break your spirit and fill in the cracks. I look forward to hearing about what God is doing in your life and the path He has provided you.

-Emily
