Compassion International is an organization that is committed to releasing children from poverty in Jesus' name. The founder sought out to be an advocate for children and to release them from their spiritual, economic, social, and physical poverty. By doing this, we enable them to become responsible and fulfilled Christians. There is an estimated 7.6 million children under the age of 5 who die each year and more than two-thirds of these deaths are preventable, according to WHO.
Psalm 82:3-4 says "Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked." By ministering and providing opportunities for these children, we are sharing the good news and providing hope.
Compassion's focus falls on children for two reasons. First, God deeply values children. Second, children are highly effective of change in almost every situation. God focused on using children throughout the Bible and Jesus commanded the people to have faith like a child. God sees no child as "disposable" and each has their own purpose and part of God's great plan.
Compassion is unique because they are committed to being Christ centered, child focused, church based, and are committed to the integrity of the children.
